Outside

Step outside into magnificent grounds where you will find ponds beneath lush canopies in the Zen garden, tranquility, somewhere to read a book and a place to get away from it all in the secret garden. There are also beautifully manicured lawns, tennis courts, a swimming pool, outdoor chess and a sheltered terrace that hugs the walls of the house. For the little ones, there's a children's play area complete with xip wire. Smaller groups (6) can dine al fresco under the gazebo.

  • In-house cuisine: The beautiful farmhouse kitchen – with its polished wood benches, brass pots hanging from the ceiling, Aga and slate floors –comes with a live-in chef who will serve delectable gourmet fare according to your tastes. Enjoy breakfast in the farmhouse kitchen, or cosy up in the ambient wine cellar where you can sample fine vintages alongside delicious culinary creations.
  • Eating out: The Maytime Inn (www.themaytime.com), nearby in the tiny hamlet of Asthall, is a cosy country cottage style restaurant serving excellent home-cooked cuisine and fine world wines. Also The Swan in Swinbrook is within walking distance of the property.
